Somin Choi

Pianist Somin Choi is building a thriving career as a solo pianist, accompanist, and chamber musician, having performed on renowned stages throughout Korea, the United States, and Europe, including the Youngsan Art Hall, Mozarteum University Salzburg, Carnegie Hall, and the DiMenna Center in New York City.

Ms. Choi is a passionate and dedicated educator, having received an Honored Teacher Certificate for her students' achievements as 1st and 2nd place winners at the Carnegie-Hall-authorized Crescendo International Competition. She is currently serving as a faculty member at Opus One Music and Voyager Music Lessons in Manhattan, as well as the Long Island Conservatory of Music.

Ms. Choi demonstrates unwavering dedication to guiding young, talented individuals. She has showcased her exceptional musical talent as an instrumental accompanist for the Precollege Division of Manhattan School of Music for years, working in studios that include members of the New York Philharmonic and The Met Orchestra.

Somin Choi moved to New York City to pursue her Master’s degree with Dr. Solomon Mikowsky at the Manhattan School of Music, where she also earned a Professional Studies Certificate with Prof. William Wolfram, following her Bachelor’s studies with Prof. Jaewon Cheung at Sungshin Women’s University in Seoul, South Korea. She has received acclaim from renowned pedagogues as well as participating in masterclasses with Mikhail Voskresensky, Jerome Rose, Peter Ovtcharov, Andrea Bonatta, Youngho Kim, and Frank Reich.

She is currently pursuing her Doctor of Musical Arts degree at Stony Brook University under esteemed educator and pianist, Prof. Gilbert Kalish, with a full scholarship and a Graduate Teaching Assistant fellowship.
